So, what do you mean by a free event?
South Wayne PorchFest is a free d.i.y. community music festival. No one is charged to attend and no one is paid to perform or host. We do appreciate the generous spirit of all who participate and attend.
Who are the musicians?
We have a wide variety of musical acts. Please see our current list of amazing performers for this year’s event.
Will there be food trucks?
This year there will be a food vendor but we are keeping it simple. Our primary vendor will be Carla’s Pizzeria. Carla’s will be selling a variety of sandwiches and tomato pie, as well as sodas. The Sugaree will be there to provide refreshing water ice. These vendors will be on Pembroke Ave. between Midland Ave. and St. Davids Road. Various local school organizations will also be setting up small stands along the festival route for you to pick up a snack. We encourage you to support those selling or patronize the terrific places to eat in Wayne.
Where is a map showing the location of the various musical acts?
Here is our 2024 complete brochure listing the details of the day. If you prefer, you can look at just the schedule or just the map as your plan yoru day. If you do not wish to be ruled by our internet overlords – no problem, a printed map will also be available at various entry points to the South Wayne PorchFest.
Where does this take place?
On St Davids Rd from the corner of St. Davids and Orchard Way to the corner of Windermere Ave. and Louella Ave. In addition, the 300-400 blocks of Midland Ave. between Pembroke Ave. & St. Davids Road will host performances. These streets will be closed to motor vehicles. That’s a beautifully walkable 9/10th of a mile of music from 11:30am to 6 p.m.
Is this a family friendly event?
Of course, it is! We wouldn’t have it any other way. All ages are encouraged to come, stroll, and enjoy the various musical genres.
Are there restrooms?
Yes, there are! Our great neighbor, St. Katharine’s School has generously agreed to let the attendees to use their restrooms. The entrance is on Windermere Ave. The handicapped accessible entrance is off of Aberdeen Avenue. We ask that you please be respectful and appreciative of their kindness.
Parking?
We do encourage every one within walking distance to please put on comfy shoes, sandals, sneakers etc. and stride on over. (All the better to get to your 10,000 steps per day.) Also, please see the map for available parking in the near vicinity. And see Wayne’s parking options for its business district.
What should I bring to to maximize my listening pleasure?
Here are our suggestions:
- Maybe a wagon for the wee ones?
- Pack something to quench your thirst from the hot sounds of the day or purchase some refreshments from a local eatery.
- Remember the restrooms are at St Katharine’s School on Windermere Ave.
- Should the weather require, please bring a hat, sunglasses, and wear sunscreen. (We know; somethings are obvious! )
- Enjoy the music (new and old); meet friends and neighbors (new and old).
